The Weight of a Second

This project explores material-led approaches to landscape painting through experimental substrates and layered processes.

Works were developed on raw canvas, board, and cradled wood panels, prepared in the studio with melted beeswax and resin grounds. Oil painting was undertaken en plein air to record light, form, and surface movement within the landscape. Final stages were completed in the studio using encaustic processes, where heat (fusing), layered impasto and mark-making were employed to build depth and texture.
